My name is Ola Aiyetoro, I will like to share my experience to everyone on the journey on how I scored 332 in JAMB in the year 2020. I know it will be achievable for everyone if the following steps are followed and will lead to a great score from 280 and above. I achieved it by following these steps;
MATERIALS NEEDED TO ACHIEVE THIS
- TEXTBOOKS: This is a very important material needed to get a very high score. They are series of textbooks that can make a very dedicated student to have an high score. Examples of textbooks include Lamlard, New school,
- JAMB SERIES: This is a book which comprises of past questions that was being set by JAMB for the past years. This material will really help students to have a high score. It will help students because, JAMB do repeat questions. By practicing the series, it will get the students more familiar to a lot of questions.
- DEDICATION: It is also very important to be dedicated because it is when a student is dedicated to pass an examination that’s when the surge of passing that exam will come, but if a students beliefs he/she can’t pass the examination it might automatically lead to failure because of lack of dedication to passing that particular examination.
- PRAYER: Prayer is a very important factor, Reading lots of textbooks and solving of all kinds of series doesn’t guarantee success so it’s advisable to be also prayerful to your GOD. He makes thing very easy for you. But, believe me prayers only cannot help to pass the examination.
- HELPFUL FRIENDS: Friends can also help to achieve the goals because it’s your friends can know something which you are not familiar with and you can also know things they are not also good at.
FACTORS AFFECTING STUDENTS
There are a lot of factors affecting students which makes them not to score
high in their JAMB. The following are those factors that affect students;
- SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS: Most students misuse the opportunities that can be gained through the social media most student do abuse it. Social media is meant to be used for educational research which can broaden the knowledge of a student but most students use these platforms for non-educational purposes like checking out pornographic movies, relationship matters(Boyfriend and girlfriend) and gisting each other about unnecessary things.
- YOUTUBE: Youtube is a video based application that can be used to watch videos instead of students to make use of it in the right way, they use it to watch comedy which may not be relevant to them towards their preparation to their examination.
- TIKTOK: It is a similar application to youtube also a video based application but it is used to make short videos, most of this videos does not contribute to the success of the student in JAMB. Most students are actually addicted to this platform because, it makes people laugh.
- WATCHING FOOTBALL: Watching football is a usual habit of the boys. Football match can be fixed almost anytime and students make sure they watch the football match about what exactly happened in the match. By doing this, it make away time which cannot be regained. Therefore, students are advised to make use of their time in a good way.
SECRETS WHICH SHOULD BE FOLLOWED TO SCORE HIGH IN JAMB
It is not as difficult as most students think. As a result of this, I decided to come up with this write-up which I titled “7 Secrets of getting 280 and above in JAMB.” The seven secrets are discussed below;
- Set a Target
Personally, I believe that there is nothing impossible that one cannot achieve. In scoring 280 and above in UTME exam, the first step is for you to believe you can achieve and set a target on the score you want to have in the end of the day.
Overtime, I have observed that most students do not have a specific score they want to have in the JAMB. All they do is just to read without a specific target. However, I always encourage Jambites to set very high score as their target. Setting a target will help you to be focused on what you want to achieve in the exam.
- Study smart
It is not all about studying hard; it is about studying smart. Kindly get the JAMB syllabus and past questions, studying closing to identify the core topics JAMB often repeat year in year out. If you can study those topics very well, I think the job is half way done. Also, understand your study pattern and not emulate friends. I used to have friends who loved drinking lots of water whenever they were studying. Hence, it is left for you to learn to study smart in preparing for the exam. - Practice
I remember practicing my JAMB past questions up to a point where I knew almost all the answers off hand. I had different forms of past questions for every of my subjects. What I am trying to point out is it is very important for you to practice very closely especially the JAMB past question because it will expose you to the patterns of questions set by JAMB. Also it has been proven over time that JAMB repeats questions from previous years. You can be fortunate to come across such questions during your exam. - Do not cheat
The prevalent thing among Jambites is relying on different forms of examination malpractices to score very high in the exam. But unfortunately for them, they end up having very low scores despite the exam malpractices.
If you want to indeed score 280 and above in JAMB and eventually gain the much-desired admission, stay away from exam malpractices before, during and after the exam. Funny enough, majority of courses taken by year-one students are topics selected from JAMB syllabus. So if you fail to study now, if you still encounter those topics even after you gained admission through the back door.
